Handloomed and handwoven Kala cotton stole

In stock

SKU: AC_ST_5 Category:

This Kala cotton stole is handwoven in Bhujodi village, Kutch, Gujarat, India, using the traditional craft technique of extra-weft weaving. In this intricate process, an additional weft yarn is introduced with a shuttle to create patterns and motifs that have the delicate, dimensional appearance of embroidery.
Woven from Kala cotton, a native, rain-fed cotton traditionally cultivated in the Kutch region, the stole celebrates the natural character and texture of this distinctive fibre. Bringing together skilled craftsmanship, traditional techniques, and the distinctive character of handwoven textiles. Each piece is unique and reflects the artistry of the weaver.

The textiles sold by Country & Eastern are handmade by traditional craft communities in India using skills and techniques like hand spinning, hand weaving, blockprinting and dyeing that have been practiced for many years. The craft process results in irregularities in pattern and colour which makes each piece unique, and most people see this as part of the character and individuality of the textiles.
