This bed cover is handmade in India using traditional craft technique known as tie-resist dyeing. Originally stemming from an Indonesian-Malay expression, the Ikat textile is a handwoven material produced by tying and dyeing sections of bundled cotton yarn. There are only three major centres where the majority of India?s Ikats are sourced, one of which being in Andhra Pradesh where our Ikats are produced by local craftspeople. These intricately designed bed covers come in a range of patterns, colours and sizes.

The textiles sold by Country & Eastern are handmade by traditional craft communities in India using skills and techniques like hand spinning, hand weaving, blockprinting and dyeing that have been practiced for many years. The craft process results in irregularities in pattern and colour which makes each piece unique, and most people see this as part of the character and individuality of the textiles.
