Governance of the Museum

The South Asia Collection is cared for and managed by The South Asian Decorative Arts and Crafts Collection (SADACC) Trust. The SADACC Trust is a UK registered charity, (Charity Number: 1137415) with the following objectives:

• The mission of the Trust is to record, conserve and promote the arts, crafts and cultures of South Asia and adjacent countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, Indonesia and Central Asia.
• To become a leading research centre for the art and crafts of South Asia and South-East Asia.
• To care for and share the collection through exhibition displays and organise events and lectures.
• To be involved in archive building and making accessible the archives and our research library for the benefit of research by external academics, independent arts organisations and for our own research.
• To enable student placements, host visiting research fellows and work closely with local, national and international universities, arts organisations and museums to further research on South and South-East Asian art and craft.

The SADACC Trust has a ‘Working towards Accreditation’ status from Arts Council, England and aims to be fully accredited by 2027.
