Vernacular Furniture of Rajasthan

Vernacular Furniture of Rajasthan

The vernacular furniture of Rajasthan holds a wealth of stories from the diverse communities of the state. Remarkably, this traditional everyday furniture – whether that is a majju (chest) with a secret locking mechanism, or a kathatara (larder) built from local mud – has never been studied in depth before. The information and photographs in this exhibition come straight from the field, where we are collaborating with DICRC, CEPT University, Ahmedabad, on the project Vernacular Furniture of North-West india.
