Indian Deities and Ritual Objects

Indian Deities and Ritual Objects

Metal is a precious commodity that is often melted down and re-used in new castings and its economic value is significant in its prevalent use in ritual and votive objects.
The objects on display here are all used in worship of one form or another, be it Hindu, Buddhist or Jain. Some objects, such as the votive shrines or deity figures, are the focal point for worship itself. Other objects, such as the oil lamps and holy water pots, are aids to worship. All of the metal pieces on display have significance and meaning beyond the skill of the craftsperson who made them.
