Heritage Open Days: Explore The South Asia Collection

September 19 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Ever wondered how this exciting collection of South and South East Asian architecture, furniture, art and crafts found itself in the centre of Norwich? Discover more about our wonderful collection and behind-the-scenes work with our curatorial team.

This is a photo of a well lit part of our permanent gallery space. In frame is a variety of furniture both natural and painted, deity figures, architectural pieces and more.

As you navigate our displays, you are surrounded by a variety of architectural niches, balconies and structures. Each item in the collection has its own histories of context, crafting, and use associated with it. Join our curatorial team to hear about some of our favourite objects in the collection that also tell the history of our collection.

The South Asia Collection is dedicated to recording, conserving and promoting the traditional arts and crafts of South and South East Asia and cares for over 10,000 items of architectural pieces, furniture, textiles, art, and crafts. Join us to also hear more about behind-the-scenes work, learn more about our collection, and discuss our research projects.

This event is part of our Heritage Open Days 2025 programme. It is free to attend however spaces are limited. Please RSVP your place by email or telephone: info@thesouthasiacollection.co.uk, 01603663890.
